We have just installed a new Miele kitchen extractor fan. It works very well but is rather loud. My husband thinks this is because it is mounted in a large open space above the hob (half cubic metre) and there is a lot of resonance. Is there any way we can suppress the noise while it is working? We had thought of filling the space with polystyrene beads (lotta work).....but would be happy to hear other suggestions.
