Kitchen extractor vent help

I have fitted a kitchen extractor against an external wall. Above the kitchen celling is a lean to roof with the lowest side of the roof above the wall with the extractor. I was planning to fit a flexible hose up through the celling across the roof space and out through the wall, but i have been reading that the flexible pipe is bad news.
The second option is to fit a solid pipe up through the roof space and through the roof tiles.

Which is going to be the better option?
