Hi,

I'm looking for some advice on either how to wire up a switch or look for the correct part. I have changed out the sockets / switches in my kitchen for chrome units and have struggled with the last part. The house builder has wired off the dishwasher & fridge/freezer to a double socket with 2 switches on. I have been out and purchased a 4 gang 2 way switch, closest item i could find to match the existing. After taking the existing unit off it appears i may have the wrong part. The current unit looks to be wired like a socket rather than a switch using 2 x live and 2 x neutral wires that are crossed over to each other. Would it be possible to use the 4 gang switch i have purchased or do i need to look for a more specific part? I have uploaded all the photos to https://www.diynot.com/diy/media/albums/home.26103/

You have bought a 4-gang light switch. This is nowhere man enough for anything more than, well, lighting circuits. Take it back, its no good for your purposes.

The switch on the wall is what is called a GRID SWITCH. Its made from separate components. Googgle "DETA Grid Switch" and you'll see what your options are.

Oh look, I'm feeling helpful

Do you know who manufacturers the grid modules you have installed? As you may need to purchase their grid plate, to fit correctly

You might want to consider getting rid of the fridge freezer (FF) switch, because sooner or later its going to be mistakenly switched OFF. What about one of these https://www.tradesparky.com/wiring-...hes-key/deta-g3534-grid-switch-key-dp-20a-whi
Also that circuit is probably RCD protected, so any fault on the circuit or appliances could cause loss of power to the FF. You might want to consider an individual circuit for the FF installed in such manner that avoids the need for an RCD.

He didn't install them, all he wants is to make it all chromey.

The maker's name is written on the grid switch. Its in the photo. Its says DETA. That's the maker of the switch. He just needs a 3-gang DETA chrome front plate, made by DETA.

I am aware he didn't install them, but never noticed the manufacturers, have now.

Sounds like a lot of work for just changing face plates.
