Kitchen waste will not fit

I bought one of these and it will not fit on the opening of my kitchen sink, it is too big.

It seems the waste needs to be smaller, looks like a bath waste size or something.
It is around 50mm.

Do you know if Mcalpine do a smaller size and where to find it?

The one you bought is a 90mm strainer waste. I presume you have the older smaller sink waste - depending on the size of flange and shape of overflow (70 or 85mm - round or square), McAlpine have a selection.
