Utter cobblers! What is a FACT is that while they are inside, they cant possibly be committing crimes. Indisputable so I don’t know why you try.
Please read the whole of my post rather taking a snippet.
Of course a person whilst in prison cant be committing a crime in public.
However, whilst that person is in prison another person can be committing crime.
Knife crime is a perfect example - the stabbings are all being done by different people, not the same offenders being released early.
Plenty of examples here for you to ignore and pretend they didn’t happen but there’s many a family without a son/father/mother/daughter because of prisoners released early
Please dont conflate keeping people in jail as protection for the public, with length if sentences as a deterrent.....they are not the same thing.
You, like others have fallen into trap of arguing, that because I am pointing out that tougher sentencing doesnt reduce crime, I am therefore wanting to be soft on crime.
Why can we all not have a more intelligent, nuanced discussion rather than this binary, dishonest debating -all it does is appeal to the emotions and not lead to the real solutions.
Ask yourself this:
Would you rather increase sentences because you want to punish people
or would you like to see the numbers of victims of crime reduced.
