Does that mean when I chase the joining wall for new electrical sockets and cable runs that I need a PWA?

Also does that mean the new extension I have built along the boundary is a shared wall?

No, it would have to be work that affects substantially the wall. Superficial work like chasing and (edit)drilling is excluded.

Walls along boundaries might be party walls or might just be trespassing. That would be a question for garden law website.
