Hi all - I’m sanding my engineered oak wood floorboards on weekend with a hired floor sander to apply some hard wax oil on top for first time (floor has a thick veneer so plenty to play with). 150grit is suggested and I’ve read if you go too fine (300 plus) you risk a cloudy appearance as you’re flattening the fibres rather than cutting them off. But When oiling I would normally knock back first coat with a fine grit before applying second to deburr the surface. Does anyone know if that’s less of an issue with hard wax oil? Or is the avoiding fine grit a bit of Boulderdash?
thanks!
