Kyle Rittenhouse?

how did the sign for OK become the symbol for white power?

it's literally universal in various walks of life scuba diving to banksman.

its a very strange thing to have happened, how does one not get accused of being a white supremacist when using the symbol?
Therefore "particular care must be taken not to jump to conclusions about the intent behind someone who has used the gesture".
"Even as extremists continue to use symbols that may be years or decades old, they regularly create new symbols, memes and slogans to express their hateful sentiments," said ADL boss Jonathan Greenblatt.
It started out as an online joke on 4Chan - taking an innocent gesture and pretending there was a hidden meaning behind it, hoping to trick the media and left-leaning people into outrage.

But the joke was so successful and widespread among the far-right, that many believe the OK sign is changing meaning.

There is just one problem - the symbol has been widely used by white nationalists in recent years, and for many people has taken on a darker meaning.

You've already demonstrated that particular care in use of symbolism is not your forte.
Also you've already used a new word to illustrate your racist attitude.

You might feel more at home on 4chan

Well if I lived in the states I would have a gun

place is full of armed fruit cakes

best to have a gun and not need it

than to not have one and need it

Your fingers point down. Ok is when your hand is pointing up.

Ok that makes more sense, but I have seen photos where the fingers are pointing up also.

There's a pic of the "proud boys" (gay sounding name for a clan), standing in a crowd doing the ok the normal way

No idea what your on about.

I've not used nay symbols that insinuate racism.

I used a word to describe white middle class people pretending to act gangster.

It wasn't used to make any offence towards people of colour.

The fact it's still on the forum deduces that your the only person offended.

I've provided several eminent sources describing the word as pejorative, offensive, racist and derogatory.
If you don't believe them and want to emulate Jim Davidson, that's up to you.
How many objections to your use of the word do you need before you accept that it's offensive?

It is, and was intended to conflate gangster culture with black culture.
The word you used is made up, partly, from an outdated, offensive and racist word used to describe and address black people. It is designed to conjure up images of that offensive word.

I used it in the correct sense it was intended. To ridicule middle class white people.

You put your own spin on it to suit your narrative that everyone and everything has a racist connotation, that's fine.

But we can really stop discussing this now.

You intentionally conflated black culture with gangster culture:
Gangsters :ROFLMAO:

Wassup my wigger..
You used a word that effectively signifies emulating black culture, and included the word 'gangsters' in the same metaphorical breath.
That was an intentional attempt to conflate the two. I am convinced that it was intentionally racist. Your refusal to accept it as racist, and your pathetic attempts to excuse it illustrates your poor understanding of racism, which explains why you think it's Ok to behave like that.
You are emulating your role model Jim Davidson, behaving like a racist and refusing to accept that your behaviour is racist.

When you want to stop talking about, just go back to your use of a racist, offensive , pejorative, derogatory word and delete it, and accept that it was a mistake.
Alternatively, just keep trying to excuse your racist behaviour.

Give it a rest.

I don't care and nor does anyone else.

If you want to be offended then that's your perogative and your problem.

I don't care and nor does anyone else.
You've made that abundantly clear, you don't care if you are racist.
You don't think you are racist, and you'll continue to behave like a racist, firmly believing you're not racist.
Just like Jim Davidson.

Such a mad country, America.
Letting people own those guns is bad enough, but the police just allow so-called vigilantes to wander about brandishing their weapons now.
What is wrong with these people?

I have seen that as well but I suppose it's them trying to co-opt the symbol. Context matters - if you did that in the street to express you are ok then no its not racist.

You haven't seen the proud boy memes (yes it's an odd name to say the least and their initiation ceremony is just as meme worthy)

Gun ownership and religion is tightly wound into some parts of American society.

Yeah, all crazy. To still quote the "right to bear arms", which was declared at a time of colonisation when there was no police, and no automatic rifles, is just barmy.

The law was set in 1791, when almost all Americas lived on small farms and used guns to defend themselves against thieves etc, although the reason for the rule was to ensure there was a militia ready to fight the British should they decide to reclaim America.

Time to move on!
