Hi, Wonderd if somone can help me out, we have a 2 year old ceiling light, with 5 lamps in, 60W small Screw-in lamps. however when the light gets switched on a lamp blows, but instead of just going dark on the tip or making a pop sound its "blowing" with a loud band and after unscrewing the lamp and looking at the screw in cap, i have found it all black with a burnt smell and 7 or 8 small holes, melted through. when this happens it also trips the MCB (5A) the lamp do last like normal ones, its just when they blow its quite a violent way. any help or advise is welcome. Thanks

What make / brand are the lamps?

What is the condition of the contacts in the lamp holders?

Lamp holders are in good shape, from what i can see, nothing obviously wrong with them. Lamp makes vary we have tried, so far.. Osram, B&Q own, Asda, and i think phillips (cant be certain on that one) this problem happend with the old light fitting, now and again but normally it was just a pop, but now each time a lamp blows they litarally Bang.
