i have fenced some land off near me that actually connects to my garden
this was 12 years ago now the neighbour sold his house and the new owners have sent me a letter saying they want me to take the fence down ? am i obliged to do this or have i won the right to that land

the previous neighbour was an elderly gent who i asked about the fencing his view was that it wasnt his land ? so he didnt care

As you are such a nice chap i'll answer you there is a right to ownership after a time period but the deeds should have been altered at that point and you may have trouble convincing the new owners that you have "owned" the land for such a long time. I believe the term is Adverse possession?

lets hope your neighbour gets every inch back as i did and i also billed him for ripping down the fence and using a skip i should of put in for an injury claim wish i knew your neighbours address i would love to give him some free advice.
i had the same problem, had these scum bags live at the back of me and
decided to make there own beer garden
it gets on my tits whan you get scum that think everything is free and they can just do what they like i hope he rips it down tonight i will even give him a hand.

The basic premise of the law is that it is scarse in britain and if it is seen to be not being used then the law allows others to take possession, this was also the case with crown land and forced the registration and upkeep of the registration in order that claims to crown property doesn't occur.

This is the wrong place to get advice. You need a Solicitor who specialises in this area. You will not get an answer you can use here

There has been a recent European Court of Justice decision which makes it very hard to get title this way. the 1998 Human Rights act is also relevant and probably not in your favour

a couple of my neighbours have extended their gardens by about 5 feet into an alleyway at the back of the houses. The alley is about 30ft wide anyway, so no ill effects of this, but i only wish they had extended right across the alley, force the smackheads to go elsewhere
