hello i have had this lap tester 4 or 5 years all working great but !
just added a spur off a double socket
when i put the lap tester in and switch the socket on all is ok BUT !
when i switch off the socket a red light remains on i cant see why adding a spur would course this to happen so went around the house around 5 sockets i tested this red light remained on but the socket switch was off !
thank paul

Perhaps it’s always done it and you’ve only noticed now? Could have just gone faulty?

Sockets most likely single pole switched, which leaves N&E connected, and there is a voltage between N&E.
That may be normal or it could indicate a problem.

Can you post pictures of your consumer unit/fusebox, the meter and where the supply enters the property?

Is the supply TN or TT? I don't know what voltage is required to light the red LED, with a TN system the earth and neutral are always reasonably close, but with a TT there can be quite a large variation between neutral and earth.

As @flameport says there could be a problem and it has alerted you to test further. But it may be with a TT system that there is no fault.

TN means the supplier gives you an earth, TT means you use an earth rod.
