laptop memory

I have a Samsung R60 plus laptop running windows vista with 2gb of memory installed
I am looking to upgrade to 4gb (will this improve the speed)
When doing a check online the memory is DDR2 667MHz (PC2-5300) 200-PIN SODIMM
I am hoeing to use my old 2gb memory in my son’s laptop
An Acer travelmate 2300 he has 512mb 200-Pin PC2700 (333Mhz) DDR SODIMM
Can I do this or will the speed make a difference?

Run the Crucial memory Scanner on your sons lappy and see what that says will fit it.

According to this link this laptop supports a maximum of 4GB RAM, which should greatly improve the speed, so basically just make sure you get the correct type RAM. I am not 100% certain but I don't think the PC2700 is compatible with the R60 plus

Whilst ddr and ddr2 are the same size they have different voltages.

I would not expect them to be interchangable but cannot say definitively.
