There's a number of Laser Cleaning videos on TikTok and the like showing coatings being magically removed from wooden bannisters etc.,

Laser cleaning isn't new, but the latest gadgets are a fraction of the price, starting at less than £100 but only available on Alibaba and other unknown overseas sites.
Do they work and is so why aren't the big name retailers like Screwfix selling them?

Having looked into this a while ago. I get the impression that the person using it needs to understand what they are removing and which frequency/power rating they need to use. I get the impression that they are not DIY products. I would not recommend one at £100 given that professional UK sourced ones are £4k and upwards.

If you do decide to get one, please let us know how you get on.

It does all seem a bit too good to be true and as I'm not in the market to spend £4k it's still a wire brush and paint remover for me!

PS: I note that Laser Cleaners can be hired but the fact that training is offered for inexperienced users suggests they are not for your average DIYer?
