Lath and Plaster - asbestos?

Hi - started stripping bedroom wall and wall is crumbly releasing old plaster with about 24 inches off in a circle. Is there any asbestos risk with lath and plaster?

Agreed, unlikely. What you'll find instead is a bit of lime (gritty and can irritate the eyes), soot (which kills the primary filters in vacuums, so use a bag) and horse hair.

Prior to 1919 horse hair wasn't disinfected prior to use, so really old horse hair might possibly (although unlikely) contain a long lasting pathogen such as anthrax and this is one of the joys of working on listed buildings (and is why we are required to undertake an anthrax survey on such buildings before commencing work)...
