I would like to partially floor my loft for storage, but am hindered due to the fact of this ex council property having been rewired which means there are tentacles of cable sprouting from the ceilings in each room, not to mention thick insulation.
I have two questions to ask if I may. Would it render the insulation less efficient if I had to cut through it to determine exactly where this forest of cables is so that I do not lay flooring directly on top of the cables, and secondly how do I get round the problem of the cables lying across the joists. Do I cut short battens so that the cables fit between them or what?
