HI,

I have seen laminate flooring in moder flats. Its not very noisy.

Is it feasible to lay wooden flooring on the upper flooring of the house? My house is about 30 yrs old with regular floorboards and carpets.
Do I have to do something for soundproofing?
Or is it best not to do it?

Thanks

If its laminate floor then you can buy thermal boards for iinsulation and soundproofing. Various makes etc. You can get em from most good DIY stores or wherever you get the laminate from should advise you.

Some are fibre board between 3 and 6mm and if you lay them on your floor before laminating they will give you a good degree of thermal insulation as well as soundproofing.

Just ensure your exisiting boards are securely fitted (ie no bounce or speaks when you walk on them) otherwise you brand new floor will become very annoying very quickly!

The boards i mentioned would also allow for discrepancys in the level of the floor to a certain degree.
