has anyone come across this sort of fitting, the house was built in 1960 so I would expect plastic but not lead. it connects to the back of the pan does a 90deg turn into a cast iron pipe and is held on by 4 bolts on a square plate. I have always had problems with the connection to the pan leaking and have had to use sealers to stop this. I am now fitting a new bathroom and need to know if there is some adapter to fit the lead pipe so I can use the modern pan connector http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v503/suddone/pics017.jpg

If your new toilet will be a low level set-up (the same as you have already) you can do as suggested above. But just to add... If your new toilet is going to be a close coupled one, it will be alot closer to the wall. You will need to cut the lead on the straight and use a bent pan con.
