leak

Its only been in couple of weeks, its leaking under the large nut I put ptf tape round the threads but nothing on the gasket

Take it out again and remove ptfe tape. Not needed.

Put nothing on the gasket. Nothing needed.
Make sure surfaces are clean and smooth.

Tighten up and test. Extra tweek up if weepy.
 
cheers gasop I'm glad I didn't use the advise of the plumber on u tube he blathered it right up with something ,he's a total geezer, perhaps a new VIZ character
 
I must be doing something wrong then! I always apply a jointing compound to immersion elements. Always seems to work for me with no "tiny leaks" or any leaks to be fair. Then again I'm by no means a plumber! :oops:
 
compond on immersion heaters makes it a nightmare for other plumbers.
standard fiber washer is all that is needed.
