Thanks for the reassurance, I keep comparing the roof job with other old and new roofs features that I see, and I think the fact I live in a shalet style house, meaning the roof is lower so that much easier to scrutinise and pick fault. I'll keep it in mind when asking them for a quote on the next phase of building work, to "price up to include getting in an independent roofer". I hope he won't take offence, I'm generally happy with the rest of the work - all things considered.
