Fitted a pedastal sink and pedastal trap, but the damn thing is leaking badly.

Not the usual top bit at the sink (I have sealed that well), but the compression fitting at the bottom of the trap. I don't think I have done anything silly, so do you think it is just a poor quality fitment ?

I can almost pull the pipe out of the trap it's that loose !!!! Or AM I doing something silly ?

FYI, I have simply pushed the 32mm pipe into the trap, rubber washer on the pipe and screwed up the nut (and the nut washer IS in there). Got the trap off Ebay, what do you think ?

Yeh, I think so anyway !!!

Tapered end facing into the fitting. I think it's just a badly fitting joint, gonna pick up another one today from Plumbcentre and try that one.

That sounds like the answer to me.

When I first started out, I bought a load of cheap wastes from screw fix, every single one as you describe.

I threw the whole lot in the bin and never bought a a cheap fitting again.
