Leaking shower

Please people, I have a pretty bad leak in my shower, I think it's coming from the bottom row of tiles that need regrouting, I will be having a go at this, but a couple of them, have a small movement on them when I press them, which I'm assuming is where the water has got behind them and they have come away from the wall, it's only a tiny movement, do you think I can get away with just a re grouting without taking any tiles off the wall.

It will be far better if you take the tiles off, and see what the situation is like underneath.

If the tiles are lose, then take them off and have a look behind; you'll very likely find it's grubby and wet. Leave it a week or so to dry out, and then get a small pack of waterprrof tile adhesive from somewhere likes Wickes, and then use it to put the tile back in. You could get a small tub of combined tile and grout as you've got both jobs to do.

Having had the same myself, I ended up taking the bottom foot of tiles of (2inch mosaic) hacking out the rotten plasterboard, filling the void back up with plasterboard and pb adhesive, and sticking it all back again. No doubt not perfect but having done a small amount of grout repair in the middle, that has lasted around 5-6years before I think potentially being due again. We used the shower in the interim by taping some plastic sheet over the hole while it dried and I then put it all back.

Hopefully your job snow balls less than that, but if it does such is life.

I used the best adhesive and grout I could get from BnQ in town, but by all accounts BAL (see their website for distributors) is the brand of choice and significantly better.

I think I might try the same, I'll remove the offending tiles cut out the plasterboard replace with new and return tiles, I was thinking of getting a transparent sheet of acrylic and screw it to the wall and deal with clear mastic, I got prices for the acrylic and it's not dear, I'm fed up with grouting and tiles and the prospect of leaks, does that sound feasible ?
