I wonder if anybody can give some advice here…

As you can hopefully see in the picture, this flexi to “old” soil pipe connection is leaking.

Clearly I’ll need to pull the flexi out and reseal it, but what sort of sealer is it that’s required?

Many thanks for any pointers!

Remove Flexi, it's nowhere near far enough into the the pipe. Afraid you'll need to clean out the socket of the cast, (it looks like cast, if Asbestos cement leave well alone!), to ensure a snug, tight fit of the end of the Pan Connector, so the fins can be pushed firmly home into the pipe, beyond the collar. May be wise to replace the Flexi if the fins are bent backwards, they may not seal very well if you try and reuse it. .

Great, thanks for the advice, and for the asbestos pointer. I’ve just checked and a magnet sticks to it so that’s a result.

I’ll get a new flexi, dig all the old stuff out of the collar and make sure it goes fully into the pipe.

The ideal TBH may be to cut that big wide collar off of the end of the cast with an angle grinder, that way you only have the actual soil pipe that the end of the pan connector needs to fit into, to get a good watertight seal. Depending on the width of the cast - you may also need to use a flexi with a 31/2" (90mm) end rather than a 4" (110mm) end

Ahh yes I was wondering about that.

I have a reciprocating saw, perhaps I'll give that a go, thanks.
