I often forget and leave my battery drill batteries on charge for a few days. Does it do them any harm?

What battery type, charger model, manufacturer etc

Need more info... (you should know this already!)

It all depends on the charger

Generally, if the charger does not specifically say that it has a maintenance mode, or that batteries can stay on charge, then remove them when full

Warm batteries after the main charge cycle is generally a bad thing

They are just bog standard Ni cads in a 1 hour charger (De walt, Makita, Ryobi). They usually feel warm when fully charged.

AFAIK Nicads are usually OK as they wont take any more current when fully charged, NIMH have to be switched off when fully charged.

My makita and bosch chargers all go into standby mode once the battery is charged, so leaving them on or off makes no difference.

I'm sure it was the same for my old DeWalt drill too.
