Hi,

I've had this problem before and had a cooker repair engineer round at a huge cost.

The engineer waggled and sprayed WD40 onto the hinge mechanism to fix it.

I have tried the same and it has not fixed it this time.

The attached photo shows the hinge that touches the value to allow the gas to flow.

When the lid is closed, the cam rotates to the right, but not far enough, so that the cam is still pressing down on the valve.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix this please?

Thanks, Richard.

Yep have a great idea.

Get an RGI out to sort it for you. It's a safety device and as such should not be messed about with by mere mortals.

Also don't get the guy you had last time. A good engineer will do more than waggle and WD40 it

i agree, mine got condemned by a gas safety check 1 year,
plumber i work with came out with some leak spray and nipped up the valve where it had started to leak.

by looks of it ,it prob just needs the spring properly located simple fix

Hi,

Thanks for everyone's advice.

I shall get a different engineer in and make sure they do a good job with the hinge.

Cheers,

Richard.
