Hi
Just found this site via google, hope someone out there can extricate me from the doghouse.
Just moved to a newbuild and wife wanted me to swap existing hall lights for posher ones.Set up was 2 lights,2 switches, lights only on or off at same time.
Tackled first one, easy peasy,3 wires piece of cake.Second one different kettle of fish.Still on a high from my previous effort i forgot to note which wires were connected to which, end result no light in bedrooms and bathrooms for a week,me in doghouse.I then plucked up courage and armed with an ageing BT multimeter and mains tester wearing wellies and rubber gloves, managed to light up bed and bath rooms.Result temp.reprieve from doghouse.I am using a 4 way connector, and connected incoming and out going cables together(colour for colour).I connected the cable i think comes from switch either direct or indirect as follows, brown with other two browns, earth to other two earths.Thats as far as i got as i found 240v sitting on blue from switch, thats dangling along with a trip.and earth which has a grey with a blue marker,a black with a brown marker,a brown and an earth. Also one of the wires from the trip/eth,think it was the black got 135v when you operated a switch.
Hpoe some one can help as i have just spotted my wife attacking the kennel with the hoover.
Many thanks webbo121247
