Hi guys,

Can you please help with one question.

If the plate light switch is installed inside the bathroom, but it is 1 meter away from the shower tray and 1,5 meters away from the sink (so it is technically outside zone 2), is this Ok or Not? Is there any guidance which is a NO NO to the 230 V wall mounted plate switch inside the bathroom, even if it is outside of zones?

Thanks,

Outside the zones, anything goes - apart from socket outlets within 3m of the bath/shower.
Zones apply to the bath or shower tray only. No zones for basins.

there are some people who have invented a zone round the basin, and even show it on their version of the zones diagram.

I think it is the federation of bathroom installers, or the lighting retailers guild, or something like that.

Indeed, you see a lot of diagrams of location of zones, which show 600mm around the basin as zone 2, which it is not. But common-sense must still prevail and reasonable selection of IP rated equipment within that area, should be used.
