Can anyone recommend a good book or web-site giving advice about how to light the different rooms in a house - possibly including types of lights but also how many/where/ dimmable yes/no.

Have looked at a few on the net and haven't found anything any good. Building in question is an old barn about 200 m2, not looking for anything ground-breaking.

Thanks.

A pendant in every room usually suffices.
Only if you use a 100w incandescent bulb with a dimmer :D
Or 10 or 12 downlighters - obviously halogen - with a dimmer
Sorry I'll get my coat...

Sunpipes.

Cold cathode tubes:

Dielectric barrier discharge lighting.

Magnetic induction lighting.

OLED lighting.

Oops.

Or maybe not. Maybe unless you know what technologies are available, and what is achievable, you'll not know how to implement your aesthetic ideals?

Why not?

Can you point to any takes-your-breath-away-wow-would-you-look-at-that architecture which is not ground-breaking?

I'm not saying that you have to boldly go, but I think it is wrong to close your mind to it.
