Being an electrical novice I'm a little perplexed by a problem I have...

The better half came home from work today and turned on the lights in the bedroom - and one of the bulbs blew - with the other 2 going off. She then went into the bathroom and the same happened to the illuminated mirror. Then the main bathroom light wouldn't come on.

I replaced the blown bulb in the bedroom and then the other bulbs came on. Not sure what to do about the mirror and bathroom light, or what stopped the other bulbs from turning on, or what caused this in the first place? No other appliances were on so surely it can't be an overloading problem... The mini-circuit breaker did not trip.

We've lived in the place for 4 years and haven't had a problem like this - just the odd blown bulb as happens.

Thanks for any help

is this a 3 lamp fitting or 3 individual lamps in the bedroom?

are you saying that after the bedroom light went off, neither the bathroom light or mirror light worked?

I'd check for a loose connection at the fitting where the lamp originally blew.. sounds like the live feed is loose...

changing the lamp just "wiggled it" back into place a bit
