Hi

We've ordered a summerhouse and reckon it would be worthwhile lining it so that it's insulated and can be used all year round (as we intend to put power etc.. in it)

Problem is, we've no idea how to go about it. Does anyone know or can they post a link? A 'google' hasn't helped,

Thanks in advance!

Until the summerhouse actually arrives it won't be obvious how best to do this. The general principle is to add insulation on the inside followed by a vapour barrier followed by some kind of cladding.

Example: In an old summerhouse we had long, long ago the walls and roof were made of T&G boards on battens. To insulate this I would put slabs of polystyrene or rock wool between the battens then staple heavy duty polythene over the top. The final layer could be hardboard, plywood, etc.

The thicker the insulation the better so you might want to add extra battens but this will cost you even more space. Since hot air rises you could benefit from extra thickness in the roof. The vapour barrier stops warm air from inside getting into the insulation where water vapour would condense out.
