Lining paper badly joined

My girlfriend and I have just bought a flat which has been decorated on lining paper. Unfortunately the plasterboard underneath looks like it's been joined together with tape, leaving indentations about 10cm wide and a few mm deep running in lines across the ceilings and some of the walls.

We don't want to strip off all the lining paper from every room and have them plastered/skimmed but we would like to try and improve these indentations if possible. I'm wondering if there is any sort of Polyfilla or similar product that will work well directly onto lining paper, for very shallw indentations.

Any tips gratefully received!

I'm afraid you're going to have to bite the bullet and have the walls skimmed. It's no use trying to patch things up, false economy

Apply it with a plasterer's float and drag it over the indents. Leave it to dry and give it a light tickle with fine sandpaper, then paint. Should work a treat.

Id go for trying to repair the joints with ready mixed ames compound you can get it in B an Q..made by gyproc in orange an white 10 litre tubs
