I have just purchased a grade 2 listed building which is in need of full renovation

I'm in the process of getting plans/building regs drawn up for an extension but wondered if i'm able to make a start on some jobs - ie, removing plaster for damproofing, stripping paint from woodem beams etc

Does anyone know the policy ?

speak to your local building office first. The listings can be very specific even for a grade 2 as to what you can and cant do. They will give you guidance. If you add or take something out they can force you to re-instate it. It is also a criminal offence if you fall foul of it as well, so make a phone call first!
