Sorted. He suffers from PTSD, he takes drugs to help him with that, and he had a flashback episode, he thought he was back in Iraq, or wherever he claimed he suffered.

It's called playing the PTSD card.

But what was he doing driving in a temporary traffic-free zone?
Well anyone would want to minimise the impact of what they had done in those circumstances in the situation you describe. It wouldn’t surprise me if it’s standard E&E practice to drive across the street like that to create a path. Pity there’s no one in the thread with relevant service history.

That is not how PTSD works, I had a long conversation with an ex services guy at the gym, recovering from PTSD. When it's triggered, his heart races and his body is pumped with adrenaline even a minor argument with his partner can trigger it, he said he has no control. He was doing well with the right support, but I felt really bad for this young lad who'd been so damaged.

Too late he's dead, in your scenario.
It happened unexpectedly and so fast it caught the police out. Him being shot although severe would have prevented these injury's. Had I have done what he has done, I would expect to be shot.

Reports suggest many vehicles we’re travelling within a rolling cordon. The guys car was attacked and this triggered a fight or flight response, aided and abetted by some or all of drink drugs and ptsd. Not defending him for a moment but you seem a bit too trigger happy.

Not at all. He only provoked an attack after he reversed into someone at quite a speed. People were attacking the car to prevent it doing what he was doing. That’s the way I saw it on the videos and taking the witness accounts into consideration. Doesn’t sound like you are defending him but perhaps you might want to pop onto my thank you thread and wish me a happy birthday instead

I feel more sorry for his victims. He put himself in a dangerous situation by his choices. Could interventions or support have prevented it, perhaps, but that's a big stretch without more information.

But thankfully there will be a pre sentencing report (PSR) created to ensure it's taken into account at his inevitable sentencing.

Will there? He's white.
