living with granite floor tiles

Hello,
We're moving into a new house soon & we're considering granite floor tiles for the sitting room because we have dogs - carpet's need frequent cleaning & wooden floors get damaged.
What's granite like to look after? Does one need a buffer?
(BTW - can anyone recommend a supplier?)

There is many different types of granite tiles ,Generally speaking, (the right) "granite" is less demanding from a maintenance point of view,although it still requires specialty cleaning products.....

Your tile shop will advice on this ,an the polish an grinding/honing
