I live in an old terraced house, and we'd like to use the attic space for storage.
We can't make it a habitable room as we have no room for stairs and not enough headroom so we'd just like to add storage space.
the loft is about 5.8 m x 6m with a wall half way. The joists are 3 x 3, but come from the rafters, not from the wall, as the loft is in the roof, so we have a high first floor ceiling.
We were thiking of putting 3 x 2 vertical straps in and then laying 8 x 2 T & G boards, then insulating with kingspan on the rafters, and adding a velux window.
Can this be done? Two builders have currently said this is the way to go?
It's only for clean storage and so we can insulate up there.
Do we have to comply with building regs just to do these minor conversions?
Cheers
Iain
