Is there any guidance on lateral bracing of the gable end to roof trusses against blow out due to high winds available (build date circ 2002)
we have them fitted but the building inspector is not happy with the quantity or the fact that the additional ones flex between the trusses. 5mm thick over 450mm, of course it will.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Assuming I have understood the problem, from memory, the straps should extend over at least three rafters and/or ceiling joists and must have timber noggins at each strap position fitted between the rafters for fixing the strap to which will stop it flexing. The gap between the gable wall and the rafters should also be packed tight at each strap position.

The straps should be at a maximum spacing of 2 metres up the slope and depending on the height may be required at ceiling level also.
