I need to change my old lift up lid loft hatch to something more substantial.

I want it to be timber and with integrated ladder. Costs seem to vary considerably between manufacturers. Can anyone recommend a decent set up.

The orientation of the hatch will be changed so size is not an issue as i will be rejigging the loft timbers but looking to go as big as possible to aid with storage access.

I have fitted the fold-away type and they are a good solution.

As long as you can accommodate the footprint of the assembly within the loft ceiling then the whole array folds away to the size of the lid - meaning once you have trimmed out there is no worry about extended ladder travel beyond the frame.

They can be a handful and it usually takes two people to fit. Just be aware of the usual i.e. structural elements, ceiling binders, pipes cables, optimum fitting to high point of roof etc.

Not really suitable for truss roofs.
