I have a thatched cottage which currently has no insulation. I have been advised that thatch fires can be caused by wood burning fires superheating the air in the chimney, causing the thatch to combust. If I added loft insualtion would this add to the risk? What recomendations are there for insulating thatch? Is the thatch itself considered insulation enough?

fibreglass insulation is not flammable, not even close.
in fact, mineral wool is stated as 'fireproof'.
