Have been asked to price some labour only work in hackney, london.Job is to fit boiler and 15 rads in 3 story mews new builds.10 in total. Solar company is going to fit cylinder and solar panels , so i only need to fit heating pipework to boiler, rads , cylinder cupboard and loft.Whats average day rate per man. cheers.

I would want to see a minmum of £250 a day if was on my doorstep, if that helps.

As it is effectively non-corgi territory and subbing, I don't think you should count on anything over 150 a day; eastern europeans will do it for under £100 a day

i was thinking in the region of 500 a day for two men and an app , plus accomodation.

There are a lot of out of work East Europeans at the moment.

I would say about £1000 per house labour if they are quick but the EE would probably manage it for £500-£600.

By the way, I dont know what they do in Liverpool but in London you are expected to quote the price per house!

NOT the price per day!

Rate for 2 engineers and an apprentice seems about right but not sure you'll get the accomodation out of them aswell?

Might be worth buying a £500 quid caravan??!!

What time scale were you looking to complete the 10 props in?

And what timescale do they have in mind?

Might be worth looking at a retainer that pays you a bonus when you complete early and fines you if you are late. Providing you are confident with your tender then these can work in your favour.

trying to work out a job price for two blocks of five houses.first fix 5 houses over five days, return when plastered and fit boiler and 15 rads per property in five days.we are only leaving heating stubs in cylinder cupboard so the solar panel firm can connect to when they fit their panels and cylinder.no hot and cold involved in this price.

Which Birmingham do you live in? Or perhaps which country is your Brum in?

In London the East Europeans live in the HOUSE they are working on !

There are alot of other things to take into account when doing a labour job only though.

Are you going to be responsible for all the materials that they supply or will they build it into the contract that any failures are chargeable!?

Things like this have a habit of biting you in the arse!!

If it were me then i would want to price for the entire job aswell and then if they refuse that then stipulate that only poor workmanship would be a recall. Defective or cheap materials would all be chargeable.

A major amount of arse covering would be needed!

All depends on what you want, 10 houses, is it possible in 10 days? 5k for 10 days isn't to bad for gauranteed money without repucussions but if you have to provide aftersales aswell then i would want to push it to 7.5k at the least.

LOL! i don't actually live in Brum but it's the closest thing it will let me choose. I'm Birmingham overspill and live in Tamworth, about 15 miles away!!

I get your point though Tony, with prices being forced lower by the way some people will work it is making it harder to put in realistic tenders.

See how i was trying to be all politically correct there!?

So looking at 20 days in total (roughly)

Would be expecting at the very least 10k out of it then but again i would still think about the retainer option if it can work in both of your benefits. This would also have to be worked on the fact that all other trades complete what has been requested otherwise it would be made null and void.

Again though is it labour purely or do they want aftersales!?
