Since having our really crappy walls rendered and skimmed and couple of our new sockets are now too deep for the existing screws. Really silly question like  But can you get 40-50mm screws for them? If so, what are they called and where from?

You can get M3.5 machine screws in different lengths but if going that far it might be better to fit a back box extension.

Yep for that one, but they are available in different depths. They sit on the existing back box, not the lug.

The nice thing about the long screws is that you can cut them down to any length you want. I like using a Dremel, but not everyone here agrees...

hmm, a dremel? does that give a nice finish to the cut end of the screw? Maybe there is a better way? :)
