Since having our really crappy walls rendered and skimmed and couple of our new sockets are now too deep for the existing screws. Really silly question like But can you get 40-50mm screws for them? If so, what are they called and where from?
but if going that far it might be better to fit a back box extension.

You should be able to buy M3.5 machine screws from any good electric shop, or even ebay it.
Yep for that one, but they are available in different depths. They sit on the existing back box, not the lug.

The nice thing about the long screws is that you can cut them down to any length you want. I like using a Dremel, but not everyone here agrees...
