Im looking for a cost effective way to install cctv
one maybe two cameras that will need to record possibly just overnight and would be helpful to be able to capture or copy images to a pc.
altough i don't want to have a pc on all night.
will need to cover a driveway and must be able to identify a person
(yes messing with my car)
so suggestions please.?????

You need a digital video recorder (DVR) they cost about £200 ish.

Kits are available but this is essentially what you need - no PC required.

If you are considering installing CCTV it may well be worth talking to a local supplier if you want to get best results especially if your aim is to identify folk fiddling with your car. Also bear in mind that if people don't want to be caught on CCTV, they can disguise themselves and any images you have won't be a lot of use.

As a supplier/installer, I fitted a professional system for a friend who was suffering persistent damage to his car. The system uses a single high resolution camera, an Infra Red corrective lens and IR lamp together with a professional digital recorder which gives very high quality images at all times. The visible IR lamp and the fact that you can see the camera seems a good deterrent and since it was fitted, no more car damage!
