My Ideal Esprit Eco 24 boiler isn't working today (was working fine last night). It's just flashing F1 on the display.

Pressure is under half a bar on the gauge. Everything online says I should just be able to open the blue and black valves to top up the water in the system will the filling loop (which is located a bit further down the pipe in a cupboard) but I can't hear any water flowing when I open both valves.

If I switch the boiler off at the wall and then back on with the valves open, I can hear water for a couple of seconds, but then it stops.

Any idea what may be causing this?

The blue and black taps would have been open all the time.
They are nothing to do with the filling loop. Some filling loops have blue or black taps; yours doesn't.

You need to turn the screw in the left end of the filling loop. Return the slot to horizontal when the pressure is correct.

as above leave the coloured valves alone and use a screwdriver to open the filling loop valve till you have the correct pressure then close the valve again

Make sure the slot on the valve is dead level, if not, the valve could slowly pass ending up in eventually over-pressurising the boiler and opening the pressure relief valve (prv)
