You mentioned spots.

In our bathroom we have an extractor fan and window. Even with both active, the shower is pretty good at kicking out steam.

We are just coming to the end of a rewire and the sparky has informed me that the IP65 mains rated shower spots I purchased for the room are no good. Said we must have low voltage. Can I argue? Or is this a definate safety issue?

Cheers

To keep things simple, you can use these lights directly above your bath/shower provided they are protected by an RCD. You can use them without an RCD in any area that isn't directly above the bath or shower.

If you want an exact answer then we really would need to know the size of the room, location of fixtures/fittings and where you want to position the lights.

Apologies, was not sure when I posted if I was hijacking! :I

The bathroom is pretty small, maybe 2.5m by 2m, the bath/shower is against 1 wall with the spots in a triangle - one in line with the middle edge of the bath The electrician doing the rewire wants me to get low voltage so I guess he is just putting it on the upstairs lighting circuit(?), is this a bad thing? From my limited knowledge, mains voltage spots cannot be insulated, so low voltage makes sense when installed from a loft floor.

Cheers!
