hi. in my front garden i have just knocked down an old concrete block shed due to bad cracking and poor build quality. my plan was to dig good foundations and rebuild. it is only a small structure, 6ft wide by 3ft deep and 5ft tall.

whilst digging i discovered the incoming water supply running straight through the middle of the trench. the rest of the pipe must be buried deep under a deep flower bed til it gets to the road.

As the pipe is totally inaccessible anyway i have no problem with burying it in the foundations but my dilemma is how i should protect it as it sits just above the hardcore base so will be sitting in the concrete.

i was thinking either a good type of lagging or maybe even box it in with ply.

Could anyone suggest the correct procedure please?

Personally, I'd box it in in such a way as to give someone a fighting chance of removing/replacing it should it ever be necessary in the future. Technically, water pipes should enter a house via conduit through the wall or it's foundations, and the same principle applies here.

yes thanks i think your right should def box it in maybe with a lintel on top

Get a length of either round or square downpipe, cut it down the length and ease it over existing water service to act as sleeve. Bit fiddly, but can be done.
