UPDATE: We've blocked the guy and run. We sent him the photo (At that point to see what he'd say) and replied back it would be £400 PER outside socket. The socket wouldn't be wired into the mains (As we requested) and would simply be a wire coming through the wall and plugging into the socket.. Basically this.. I can literally do this myself lol

He also said "Your Bored [sic] doesn't have an RCA Breaker so we will need to use RCD built in ones which will be more expensive. You are also required to have one fitted to your board which I will also do while im there. This will be extra you understand"

needless to say we blocked him and moved on. Thank you to everybody that helped <3
This may be an odd question..

We've moved into a house and we need an electrical job carried out. We're in contact with an electrician and he's pricing up a job. He's E-mailed and asked us "Does your board have an RCA Breaker".
Here is a photo of our board. Does it have an RCA breaker? I believe it does (Where it says RCD protected) but wanted to confirm before messaging back.

Additional: the reason he wants to know is it's for fitting an outside plug. He said we won't need an RCD Breaker plug outside if the board already has RCA breaker.

Additonal: He keeps calling it RCA but everything i've read online says it's an RCD breaker.. Should i maybe be worried? he has Great reviews on Check a trade..

No but it does have 2 x rcds, send him the photo.
Ty!

Hope you don't mind me asking but are they the same thing? We're having outside plugs fitted and he's said If our board has an RCA Breaker we won't need outside plugs with it fitted. Other wise we'd need RCD fitted plugs.

I tried sending the the photo but he's said it won't open for some reason.. Something is worrying me tbh. He keeps calling it RCA.. but everything i've read says boards have RCD's..

Not sure what an RCA is but your outside sockets wont need to be rcd sockets.

We can't tell if it is the electrician or you who keeps typing A instead of D.
His exact message is

"Could you confirm your board has an RCA Breaker? If so we won't need an RCD outlet"

He's also called it RCA in a previous message.

Nor do I. I'm starting to think he either doesn't know what he's talking about OR he keeps making the same typo.

Just send him the photo or ask him to come and look at the job first, that would help.

Another red flag. He's put off coming out twice now which is why we're communicating via Dm's. I've tried sending him the photo but he says it won't open.

I would question why any spark needs to advertise on check a trade? He will have great reviews, he pays for them. It depends on where you live, here in Wales the garden is a special location, and needs the work registering, unless a scheme member the cost to register can be more than the work is worth, here in Wales £100 plus vat.

So what you want to know is he a scheme member, I was never a domestic electrician so was never a scheme member, the other will tell you where to look.

Correct.

It's an RCD - as printed on the front of the two devices in your consumer unit.
There is no RCA device and never was.

Even for something such as adding an outdoor socket, there is a lot more to check before installation than just whether RCDs are present.
They really should attend and look for themselves.

Does English seem to he his first language?

he has Great reviews on Check a trade..

Do you know how many of his Checker trad reviews were written by his mum?

I'm starting to think he either doesn't know what he's talking about

A reasonable opinion.

There are some accredited electrician registration schemes for qualified electricians. They are a better source than Checker trad, which is an advertising site.
