Are these any good? The part of the waste you screw the screw in to is plastic thread? Could see this being an issue with crossing/over theatening

I find McAlpine products to be the best around.....with careful assembly they last very well and are superior to most other makes.
John :)

I’ve used some cheaper types, not really had any problems, so can’t see the same with McAlpine.

Only my opinion as a DIYer - I junk the supplied wastes that come with Ikea and Victoria gear etc and have McAlpine stuff on standby....chances are you are going to need it anyway!

Doesn't need to be super tight and a smidging of sealant on the seal will add belt and braces depending on how well the underside of the bath's waste hole has been finished.

I once used the overflow and waste a customer supplied. The overflow used internal o-rings and pushed together. About 2 years later, the top part of the flexi fell off the overflow fitting. Showering wasn't an issue but if the customer had a bath the water would come out of the upper part of the hose when the bath was emptied. I now use jubilee clips for piece of mind.
