Megaflow won't switch off - help please?

do it all and picasso will be spot on when saying your having problems with a motorised valve.

Probably in your airing cupboard there will be two little boxes connected to your pipework. One one pipework linking up to the cylinder and another that will be on the heating pipework. If they are not like the picture picasso put on then they will probably be a beige colour.

All your timers and thermostats do is provide power to a motor inside these boxes (actuator) that open the valve to allow hot water from your boiler to flow to either radiators or hot water cylinder.

When the valve is open it activates a microswitch inside the actuator. It is this microswitch that actually turns your boiler on and off. If for some reason the microswitch is stuck in the on position it doesn't matter if your time is turned off and all stats set at minimum, the microswitch in the actuator will keep your boiler firing and cycling 24 hours a day seven days a week. If not sorted be prepared for a costly gas bill

Thanks Agile. I am certain it doesn't work correctly at the moment. The plumber who came agreed with this (he was the one who installed it too) but he said that he wasn't able to say why it is not working correctly. It seems as if my best bet is to switch off the boiler for some time and then restart the whole system unless anyone has another suggestion?

Thanks Gazdaz36. So if this is a valve problem, I guess it needs to be changed? Or can it be unstuck?
Sorry for the many questions...

Gazdaz thanks for your help; the diagnosis seems to be correct, so I feel the problem is narrowed down. Will have a look or call in the profs...

Nothing you have said has made me think its not working correctly!

The hot water is stabilized at 60 C and does not get any hotter.

The settings MIGHT be wrong. For example the boiler flow might be set at just 60 C and never satisfies the cylinder stat.

All I can say is that your installer is a nupty who thinks there is something wrong ( perhaps just to make you happy by agreeing with you ? ) but cannot identify what is wrong or why ! Thats meant to be his job!
