Midnight

For example, if it's a Sunday, or whichever day you consider to the last one of the week, and you want to refer to the nearest future Wednesday, then "Wednesday next week" means the nearest Wednesday.

"Wednesday next week" is 10 days away, "this wednesday" or "next wednesday" is the nearest.

The day ends at midnight 24.00.00 and starts one pico pico second later.

Midnight does not actually belog to any day it is a very small divider of days

To say midnight of any particular day is wrong because they could mean either.

I would usualy assume it to be the one at the end of that day but I am actually wrong to assume it just as it is wrong to refer to 12 AM or PM they are wrong they are Noon or Midnight depecding on which one you mean.

No I am not 18 or under far from it , very far!

This,
Next
One after next.
One before this

When used with a day or a week or a month or a year .

People often say next Wednesday when they mean the one after ie should be Wednesday next week.

If you say next Wed on a Wed,Thur, Fri, Sat then next Wed and Wed next week are one and the same .
If you say it on another day then next Wed is the next one to arrive but this week.

Lots of people say next Wed though instead of Wed next week and that`s where the confusion reigns.
And yes I do do it meeself so guilty as charged.

If you ask someone (verbally rather than write it dow) "which is greater , six dozen, dozen or half a dozen dozen?" then a lot of folk get it wrong

It's very small? You mean that it overlaps? :?

And you support the view that using "next" makes things clearer?

Literally, does midnight not mean the middle of the night which depending on what part of the country you live in needn't necessarily be 12°clock?

"12 am is 00:00 is Midnight. What's the problem?"

Therefore 12 pm must be noon then! I don`t think

Therefore , by default, 12 pm must be noon then! I don`t think

"And you support the view that using "next" makes things clearer? "

No, it just goes to show we can all muck it up at times.

But we were , in this one, discussing midnight.

It is only with our modern understanding of astronomy and time keeping that we start a new day in the middle of the night. To our ancient ancestors, the end of day was when the sun went down. The oncoming night was the beginning of the next day. Nights were actually part of the holiday i.e. part of the next day.

as explained on

http://www.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk/customs/Xmas/twelfthnight/index.html

Christmas, started at sunset on 24 December. They considered this to be Christmas Evening (or Christmas Eve). Christmas would then continue until nightfall on the 25th which started St. Stephen's Day, (Boxing Day) the first of the twelve days of Christmas.

my week ends on a Sunday as God created the earth in 5 days then rested for 2, (sat & sun)
