mini gears

Hi can any one tell me why the 1st and 2nd gears on mini cooper 2002 have gone very hard to get into gear,there is no crunching just hard to engange.

Could be several things but probably the linkage has slipped and needs to be re adjusted, other things it may be is the syncro inside the box or the selector for first and second may have been damaged.

.. or that the clutch is not disengaging properly, although this would normally cause it to crunch when engaging reverse.

Hi everybody thanks for your help, but the problem with the stiff gear shiffing has just dissappeared working fine now strange but true.

probably the gear linkage needs adjusting. If it happens again, thats what i'd go for
