Mixture for Rendering

Hi hope someone can help me with this I have A 3 brick high fence around a garden bed, this has been rendered.
I would like to go over this again and put a colour in the mix, what is the ratio for making the render and the amount of colour to add to give a good colour help me be

5 parts sand 1 part cement and very littel colourent but why not use masonary paint you can get almost any colour u like and it will save a lot of work
if you do opt for re-render paint old with PVA first
